Nvidia RTX 60 and RDNA 5: 2028 delay mentioned

Nvidia RTX 60 and AMD RDNA 5: a delay to 2028 suggested

In mid-September, a new rumor circulated in the specialized press: the next generations of Nvidia and AMD graphics cards could arrive later than expected. The important point: nothing is confirmed by the two manufacturers. Here is what has been reported, and what that concretely means for a purchase in 2026.

What the rumor reports

The information comes from leaker Kepler_L2, relayed in particular by Méga Force Magazine on September 16, 2026. According to these sources:

  • Nvidia: the GeForce RTX 60 generation would not be launched in 2027 as some rumors suggested, but in 2028.
  • AMD: no high-end card in 2027. Only one mid-range RDNA 5 model is reportedly planned for next year, with the rest of the lineup pushed back to 2028.

The explanations put forward are component availability, pressure from the artificial intelligence market on production capacities, and the rising cost of memory, which complicates the economic equation for new cards.

Rumor or news?

Neither Nvidia nor AMD has announced an official schedule. An isolated source, even a well-known one, remains just a source: other leakers support different dates. It should therefore be treated with caution, pending communication from the manufacturers.

Consistent with market context

This rumor is part of an already tense context: memory (both GDDR and DDR) is more expensive in 2026, and RTX 50 Super cards as well as RDNA 5 had already been described as delayed. We discussed this in our article on the delay of the RTX 50 Super and RDNA 5.

Wait or buy now?

No one can predict 2028 prices. What we can say is that if your current PC limits your gaming today, waiting two years for a hypothetical generation has a real cost: two years of degraded gaming.

Situation Reasonable approach
Your current GPU runs your games properly Waiting remains risk-free
Your GPU already limits your games in 1080p An RTX 5060 or 5060 Ti meets the current need
You are aiming for comfortable 1440p RTX 5060 Ti 16GB or RTX 5070 depending on budget

The current RTX 50 lineups, with DLSS 4 and GDDR7 memory, will remain relevant for several years if this schedule is confirmed.

Conclusion

A delay to 2028 is only a rumor at this stage, but it corresponds to a market where components and memory remain under pressure. It is better to choose based on your current needs rather than on unofficial dates.
