i3-13100F: Don't let the "i3" label fool you

The i3 badge carries a reputation as an office-chip relic from another era. The 13100F has little in common with that: 4 performance cores, 8 threads, a high boost frequency, and a modern architecture. For 1080p gaming, where per-core frequency matters most, it gets the job done without paling in comparison to more expensive processors.

You have to be realistic about its limits: with 4 cores, heavy multitasking (streaming with CPU encoding, large video exports) is not its strong suit. However, for gaming, chatting on Discord, and keeping a browser open, it is perfectly sized—and its contained price is precisely what allows this machine to stay under €800.

RTX 3050 6GB: 1080p with DLSS and Ray Tracing

The RTX 3050 6GB is your gateway into the GeForce RTX ecosystem. It targets 1080p at medium to high settings depending on the title, and most importantly, it provides access to DLSS: in compatible games, AI upscaling significantly boosts fluidity without visibly sacrificing image quality. For e-sports titles (Fortnite, Valorant, Rocket League, CS2), the machine runs with great ease.

Ray Tracing is present, though it should be used judiciously depending on the game; on a card in this category, it is best activated sparingly, relying on DLSS. It's a welcome bonus, not the primary selling point.

Why not an older, pre-owned card?

At this price point, the classic alternative is a used GTX 1660 Super or RX 6600. The benefit of a new RTX 3050 6GB is the warranty, lower power consumption (no extra power connector needed on most models), and access to recent NVIDIA technologies, with DLSS leading the way.

16GB of DDR4 dual-channel memory and 512GB SSD

An important point for this price bracket where some builders cut costs: the 16GB of DDR4 is installed in dual channel, which prevents the processor from being throttled. The 512GB SSD holds Windows 11 and four to six large games—for a larger library, a second SSD can be added later, as the case and motherboard allow for it.

The DGT Black Case

Glass side panel, decent airflow, reasonable footprint: the overall look remains discreet on a desk. Like all DSGate machines, assembly is performed by hand in France, with tidy cable management and full testing before shipping.

Future-proof upgrades

This is one of the arguments for a desktop PC over a console: the LGA1700 platform supports much more powerful processors (i5-12400F, i5-14400F), and the graphics card can be replaced with a superior model when the time comes. Buying this PC for €779 today doesn't rule out turning it into a 1440p machine in two years by only changing the GPU.

Who is it for?

  • The first gaming PC: For a teenager or a player leaving consoles behind, on a tight budget, and wanting to play in 1080p right out of the box.
  • The e-sports player: Competitive titles run with great fluidity on this configuration.
  • The forward-thinker: A healthy, evolving foundation that is upgradable component by component.

If your budget can stretch to around €1,000, the M6-IV Cloud Q (i5-12400F + RTX 5060, 1TB SSD) offers a significantly higher level of performance.

Verdict

At €779, the DSGate M5-IV DGT Black fulfills its promise: a true 1080p PC gaming experience with DLSS, balanced and modern components, no hidden compromises on dual-channel memory, and an upgradeable base. Amidst soaring component prices, a machine assembled and tested in France at this price is a serious option to consider for beginners.
