Another point to note: it has no integrated graphics circuit. Therefore, a dedicated graphics card is essential to display anything. For a gaming PC, this is not a problem, but it closes the door to "troubleshooting without a GPU" use.

For whom? The budget-conscious gamer who pairs a mid-range graphics card and targets 1080p in high quality. It's the core of a balanced entry-level configuration.

Ryzen 5 5600GT: versatility with integrated graphics

The Ryzen 5 5600GT takes a different approach. Still 6 cores and 12 threads, but with a higher boost frequency (up to 4.6 GHz) and especially an integrated Radeon Vega graphics circuit. This is an APU: the processor can display images and run light games without a dedicated graphics card.

This particularity makes it a smart choice in two cases. First case: you are building a machine now but are waiting for a price drop to buy your graphics card. The 5600GT allows you to use the PC in the meantime. Second case: you want an office and multimedia PC capable of handling a few less demanding games.

In return, the architecture of APUs generally implies slightly more constrained cache and PCIe lanes than a "classic" Ryzen. In pure gaming with a dedicated graphics card, the 5600GT is neck and neck with the 5500, with a slight advantage thanks to its higher frequency.

Ryzen 7 5700X: the leap to 8 cores

The Ryzen 7 5700X is the most ambitious of the three. It moves to 8 cores and 16 threads, doubles the L3 cache to 32 MB, and supports PCIe 4.0. This is the processor to aim for if you want headroom for years to come.

Its two additional cores and more generous cache make a difference in several situations: recent CPU-intensive games, heavy multitasking (streaming and gaming at the same time), and especially content creation such as video editing, encoding, or compilation. In these uses, the 5700X takes a clear lead over the two Ryzen 5s.

In pure gaming, the gap with a 5500 or 5600GT is more measured as long as the graphics card remains the limiting factor. But as soon as you move up the GPU range (RTX 5060 Ti, RTX 5070 and beyond), the 5700X prevents the processor from becoming the bottleneck.

Like the 5500, it does not have an integrated graphics circuit: a dedicated graphics card is essential.

  • In 1080p gaming with a mid-range GPU: all three processors offer a very similar experience. The limiting factor is the graphics card, not the CPU.
  • In gaming with a more powerful GPU or at high frame rates: the 5700X takes the lead thanks to its 8 cores and larger cache.
  • In creation and heavy multitasking: the 5700X is clearly ahead, often 30 to 40% faster than the Ryzen 5s on tasks that utilize all cores.
