The RTX 3070 is back. A high-end card when it was released in 2020, it returns to the market in 2026 at prices that put it against current mid-range cards—between €299 and €350. And paired with a Ryzen 5 5500 on an affordable AM4 platform, it allows you to build a 1440p gaming PC for around €999.
At DSGate, this is our Nox build. We're going to show you what it's made of.
Why this build is a bargain
The math is simple. The RTX 3070 offers superior raw performance to the Arc B580 and is close to the RTX 5060 Ti in many games—for €300-350 instead of €390-440. This is a GPU that was selling for €500+ two years ago.
Paired with a Ryzen 5 5500 at ~€99-110, a mature and affordable AM4 platform, and 16 GB of DDR4, you get a complete PC for €999 that plays at 1440p high settings on most titles. This is the best raw power-to-price ratio in our range.
The compromise? The RTX 3070 only has 8 GB of VRAM and no DLSS 4. We'll discuss this in detail below.

The choice of Ryzen 5 5500: why not a 5600X?
At 1440p, the GPU does most of the work—not the CPU. The difference between a Ryzen 5 5500 and a 5600X shrinks to 3-8% at 1440p, compared to 15-37% at 1080p. At this resolution, the €40-60 extra cost for the 5600X has less visible impact.
So we chose to put the budget into the GPU (the 3070) rather than the CPU. This is a strategic choice that maximizes FPS at the lowest price.
For gamers who also aim for competitive 1080p at very high FPS or who do intensive multitasking, we offer the same build with a Ryzen 5 5600X for approximately €1050-1100. This is our M9 / NYXII build with Arc B580 at this budget—an alternative choice that we detail in a dedicated article.
In-game performance
The RTX 3070 is a powerful GPU. With its 5888 CUDA cores and 256-bit bus, it pushes FPS that cards in the €200-300 range cannot reach.

This is where this build shows its true value. At 1440p high settings, the RTX 3070 maintains 55-65 FPS on the most demanding AAA titles. This is the threshold of comfortable fluidity. Activate DLSS 2 in quality mode on compatible games and you'll gain another 20-30% FPS.

Choose the RTX 3070 if:
- You want the highest raw FPS possible
- You play at 1440p and every FPS counts

Choose the Arc B580 if:
- VRAM is your priority (12 GB vs 8 GB — better longevity)
- You'll keep this PC for 4+ years without a GPU upgrade

- You want a GPU that consumes less power (190W vs 220W)
Both are excellent choices. The RTX 3070 wins in raw power. The Arc B580 wins in longevity thanks to its 4 GB of additional VRAM. It's a matter of priority.
The controversial topic: 8 GB of VRAM in 2026
Let's be transparent. 8 GB of VRAM is the weakness of the RTX 3070 in 2026.
Today, it's enough for 90% of games at 1080p and 1440p high settings. But some recent titles are starting to use more than 8 GB at 1440p ultra: Cyberpunk 2077 with max textures, Black Myth Wukong at ultra, and the upcoming GTA 6 could be demanding.
When VRAM saturates, the game doesn't crash—it degrades textures or creates micro-stutters. It's rarely dramatic, but it's noticeable.
Our position: at €999 with the performance of the RTX 3070, 8 GB remains an acceptable compromise. If VRAM longevity is your absolute priority, the B580 build (12 GB) at an equivalent price is the safer choice. Both options are available at DSGate.
The RTX 3070 in 2026: where does it come from?
We are often asked how we can offer a new RTX 3070 at this price in 2026, when it's a card from 2020.
The RTX 3070 has returned to the market thanks to stock becoming available again at attractive prices, between €280 and €350. This is a boon for assemblers like us who are looking for the best performance-to-price ratio for their customers.
Every card we use is new and tested in our workshop before assembly. We don't sell used or mining components without disclosing it. It's new, guaranteed, with DSGate support.
DLSS 2: still excellent in 2026
The RTX 3070 does not have DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation (reserved for RTX 50). But it has DLSS 2, which remains a remarkable technology.
DLSS 2 reconstructs the image using AI to gain FPS. In quality mode, the gain is 20-30% with an almost imperceptible visual loss. In performance mode, the gain can reach 50-60% but with reduced image quality.
The vast majority of recent AAA games support DLSS: Cyberpunk 2077, Hogwarts Legacy, Fortnite, Call of Duty, Black Myth Wukong, and dozens of others. This is a concrete advantage of the RTX 3070 over the Arc B580 and its XeSS, even though XeSS has improved significantly.

This build has a clear upgrade path.
CPU → Ryzen 5 5600X or 5700X (~€50-90 net extra cost) The most cost-effective upgrade. The 5600X brings 15-37% gain in 1080p gaming thanks to its doubled L3 cache. The 5700X adds 2 cores for multitasking. Both are drop-in upgrades on AM4, no need to change the motherboard.
RAM → 32 GB (~€100-120) Add 2x8 GB identical modules. Reduces micro-stutters in AAA games and improves multitasking. Relevant especially if you play at 1440p with many open applications.
GPU → RTX 5060 Ti or RTX 5070 (when budget allows) The leap to the current generation. The Ryzen 5 5500 (or a 5600X/5700X if you've upgraded) will not bottleneck these cards at 1440p. This is the ultimate upgrade that transforms this PC into a high-end machine.
Storage → 1 TB NVMe SSD (~€90-130) If 512 GB + 500 GB HDD is no longer enough, a second 1 TB NVMe SSD solves the problem in 2 minutes.
Who is this build for?
1440p gamers with a controlled budget. This is the entry price to play comfortably at QHD on recent AAA titles. No other build at this price offers as many FPS at 1440p.
Convinced NVIDIA gamers. DLSS, GeForce Experience, NVENC, ShadowPlay—the NVIDIA ecosystem is mature and complete. If you insist on it, the 3070 is the most powerful NVIDIA GPU under €400.
Bargain hunters. A GPU that rivaled an RTX 5060 Ti just a year ago, for €300-350? It's simply a steal.
Those who will upgrade the CPU later. Starting with a 5500 and upgrading to a 5600X or 5700X in 6-12 months is a smart strategy to spread out the budget.
This is NOT for you if...
VRAM is your priority. 8 GB in 2026 is sufficient but not comfortable for the long term. If you keep this PC for 4-5 years without changing the GPU, the Arc B580 (12 GB) build is safer.
You want advanced Ray Tracing. The RTX 3070 handles RT, but its 2nd-gen RT cores are behind the RTX 50 (4th gen). For intensive RT, aim for an RTX 5060 Ti minimum.
You want the latest technology. No DLSS 4, no GDDR7, no PCIe 5.0. It's a 2020 GPU with 2024 performance—but it's not the latest generation.
