DSGate M5-IV DGT Black Review: The 779 € Entry Ticket to PC Gaming
After our reviews of the M6-IV Cloud Q (RTX 5060) and the 1440p machines in the range, it's time for the entry-level model: the DSGate M5-IV DGT Black, priced at 779 €. i3-13100F: Don't let the "i3" fool you
The i3 badge carries a reputation as an office chip inherited from another era. The 13100F has little to do with that: 4 powerful cores, 8 threads, a high boost frequency, and a recent architecture. For 1080p gaming, where core frequency matters most, it performs well without blushing compared to more expensive processors.
One must remain realistic about its limitations: with 4 cores, heavy multitasking (streaming with CPU encoding, large video exports) is not its strong suit. For gaming, chatting on Discord, and keeping a browser open, however, it is perfectly sized — and its contained price is precisely what allows this machine to stay under 800 €.
RTX 3050 6 GB: 1080p with DLSS and Ray Tracing
The RTX 3050 6 GB is the entry point into the GeForce RTX ecosystem. It targets 1080p at medium to high settings depending on the title, and most importantly, it provides access to DLSS: on compatible games, AI upscaling significantly improves fluidity without visibly sacrificing image quality. For esports titles (Fortnite, Valorant, Rocket League, CS2), the machine runs with great ease.
Ray Tracing is present, to be used selectively depending on the game: on a card of this category, it's more of a sporadic activation, relying on DLSS. It's a valuable bonus, not the main selling point.
Why not an older used card?
At this price point, the classic alternative is a used GTX 1660 Super or RX 6600. The advantages of the new RTX 3050 6 GB: warranty, contained power consumption (no additional power connector needed on most models), and access to recent NVIDIA technologies, especially DLSS.
16 GB of DDR4 in dual channel and 512 GB SSD
An important point in this price range where some builders cut corners: the 16 GB of DDR4 is installed in dual channel, which prevents bottlenecking the processor. The 512 GB SSD accommodates Windows 11 and four to six large games — for a larger library, a second SSD can be added later, as the case and motherboard allow it.
The DGT Black case: discreet with a touch of originality
The DGT Black chassis stands out with its digital display on the front, giving the machine a visual identity not usually found in this segment. Tempered glass side panel, decent airflow, reasonable footprint: the overall look remains discreet on a desk. Like all DSGate machines, assembly is done by hand in France, with meticulous cabling and full testing before shipping.
Future upgrade possibilities
This is one of the arguments for a desktop PC over a console: the LGA1700 platform accepts much more powerful processors (i5-12400F, i5-14400F), and the graphics card can be replaced by a superior model when the time comes. Buying this PC for 779 € today does not prevent it from becoming a 1440p machine in two years, by only changing the GPU.
Who is it for?
- First gaming PC: for a teenager or a gamer transitioning from console, with a tight budget and the desire to play in 1080p right out of the box.
- Esports gamer: competitive titles run very smoothly on this configuration.
- Forward-thinker: a solid and upgradeable base, component by component.
If your budget can go up to around 1,000 €, the M6-IV Cloud Q (i5-12400F + RTX 5060, 1 TB SSD) offers a significantly higher performance tier.
Verdict
At 779 €, the DSGate M5-IV DGT Black delivers on its promise: a true 1080p PC gaming experience with DLSS, recent and balanced components, no hidden compromises on dual channel, and an upgradeable base. Amid rising component prices, a machine assembled and tested in France at this price is a serious option to consider for getting started.
