GPU 2026: Why No New Graphics Cards Will Be Released This Year

Nvidia Puts Gaming on Hold

On the software side, however, Nvidia continues to advance. DLSS 4.5 introduces Multi Frame Generation 6x and a dynamic version of this technology, expected in spring 2026. The idea is to generate several additional frames from a single frame calculated by the card, to improve fluidity without changing hardware.

AMD Also Postpones Its New Generation

Meanwhile, AMD was expected to release its future RDNA 5 architecture, which was supposed to mark a technological turning point for its Radeon cards. But here again, the timeline is slipping: the launch of this series is reportedly postponed until 2027.

The consequence is clear for gamers: 2026 increasingly looks like a blank year for new graphics cards. Current models therefore remain the benchmark, and their prices are not dropping as one might hope at the end of a cycle.

What This Means for Gamers
