Computex 2026: NVIDIA unveils its RTX Spark chip

Computex, the major hardware event in Taipei, is taking place this year from June 2 to 5. And NVIDIA didn't waste any time making headlines: the brand took advantage of the show to present its very first PC chip combining a processor and a graphics card in a single component. Its name: RTX Spark.

A chip that blends CPU and GPU

Until now, NVIDIA was mainly known for its graphics cards. With RTX Spark, the brand is tackling new ground by offering a "unified" architecture, where the processor and the graphics part share the same memory. On paper, the announced specifications are ambitious:

  • A processor part based on the NVIDIA Grace architecture, with 20 Arm cores.
  • A Blackwell RTX graphics part embedding 6,144 CUDA cores.
  • Up to 128 GB of unified memory, shared between computing and graphics.

The idea of common memory is significant: it avoids data copying between the processor and the GPU, which can benefit computing and artificial intelligence uses. The first machines equipped with RTX Spark are expected in autumn 2026 from several major brands.

A strong signal for the PC market

With this chip, NVIDIA is clearly expanding its playing field. The platform relies on an Arm architecture, as already found on some laptops, and targets uses focused on AI and productivity as much as gaming. This is a different approach from classic desktop PCs, which rely on separate processors and graphics cards.

Should this be seen as a replacement for traditional configurations? Not immediately. RTX Spark is primarily aimed at specific machines and specific uses. For gaming on a fixed PC, the classic processor coupled with a dedicated graphics card remains the benchmark, with the advantage of being able to choose and upgrade each component independently.

A context of memory shortage

This announcement comes in an already strained market. NVIDIA has indicated that it wants to reduce its production of graphics cards for video games, due to shortages affecting several types of memory, including GDDR7. Demand related to artificial intelligence absorbs a large part of production capacity, which impacts the availability and prices of consumer hardware.

For gamers, this translates into a simple rule: good current configurations retain all their value, and it is not necessarily relevant to wait for the next new product if a machine suited to your needs is available today at a fair price.

What to remember

RTX Spark is a significant announcement that shows the direction NVIDIA is taking: more integrated chips, designed for AI and unified memory. But for the vast majority of gamers in 2026, the upgradeable desktop PC remains the most flexible and accessible choice.
