The Context: Why DDR5 is so expensive in 2026

Who is this kit for?

32GB 6000MHz CL36 is now the recommended standard for two types of platforms:

AMD AM5 Platform (Ryzen 7000 / 8000 / 9000)

On AM5, DDR5 is mandatory (the platform does not support DDR4). 6000MHz is the reference frequency: this is where the Infinity Fabric of the AMD memory controller operates in 1:1 mode, maximizing real-world performance. Going higher in MHz is often counterproductive as long as you stick to consumer CPUs.

Intel LGA1851 Platform (Core Ultra Series 2)

On the latest Intel motherboards, DDR5 is also the norm. Intel CPUs are more tolerant of high frequencies, but 6000MHz remains an excellent price/performance compromise.

Special Case: If you are still on AM4 or Intel LGA1700

If you have a Ryzen 5500, 5600GT, 5700X, or an Intel Core 12th / 13th / 14th generation on a DDR4 motherboard, this kit is not compatible. You must stick with DDR4. On this point, a useful reminder: changing RAM often means also changing the CPU and motherboard. Do not force an isolated upgrade.

If you're building an AM5 configuration or waiting for the right moment to upgrade from 16GB to 32GB, this is probably a window of opportunity to seize before prices rise again – many industry analysts don't foresee a significant drop before the end of 2026.

A quick tip before clicking: make sure your motherboard is compatible (check the QVL — Qualified Vendor List — on the manufacturer's website), and activate the EXPO or XMP profile in the BIOS after installation, otherwise your kit will run at the default frequency of 4800MHz and you will lose all the benefits of the purchase.
